How to Volunteer in 4-H
Any
adult or teen can volunteer to serve in 4-H. You can expect
a meaningful experience and to make a difference in the life
of youth while you are having fun!
Volunteers are needed to work with youth or in management
positions in the 4-H club program, school programs or special
interest programs. To volunteer in the 4-H program, contact Program Coordinator at (360) 337-7162.
You will be asked to:

Complete a volunteer application form and mail it to WSU Kitsap County Extension, 345 6th Street, Ste. 550, Bremerton, WA 98312.

Successfully complete a Washington State Patrol check.

Complete a basic volunteer training program.

Special Skills Needed!
Many volunteers get involved in activities
unfamiliar to them. Using resources available, a volunteer
can gain a working knowledge of 4-h. Volunteers can become
guides and resources to youth developing a partnership which
together, builds skills for the youth and adults!
The following are some examples of volunteer opportunities
available:
4-H Club Program - Volunteers are needed to share a skill or talent, to work in encouraging and nurturing youth and in having fun on a regular basis. Some examples of volunteer positions in the club program are:

4-H Club Leader: Working as a club leader includes working with club officers to guide club meetings, recruiting and enrolling 4-H members and leaders and to offer guidance and leadership to club officers, project and activity leaders.

4-H Project Leader works with the club leader in the organization of 4-H projects. In a project leadership, the goal is to provide opportunities for members to learn and practice skills in the subject matter of the project. Example: dogs, arts, computers...

4-H Activity Leader is responsible for organizing a particular activity or activities within the club program.
4-H
School Program: Volunteers work with youth in an after
school or in-school environment, providing experiential learning
projects that assist youth in developing life skills.
School Program Coordinator: organizes school program
or after school program in collaboration with school staff.
School Volunteer: works with youth in a school program
or after school program, sharing knowledge and skills in a
defined topic.
Special Interest Projects: Volunteers become resources
to a group of youth learning within an environment other than
club or school. Volunteers work with youth in a special interest
area.
4-H Camp at Twin Lakes: Camp offers a wide variety or opportunities to volunteer.
Volunteers are needed to work directly with youth, to provide
management and organization to camp facilities, camp operation
and camp programs. Volunteers can participate year round or
during one the week long summer sessions.
4-H Fair: Volunteers enjoy participating
in the Kitsap County Fair. Volunteers can provide service
in the project areas or in the 4-H office coordinating support
for 4-H contests and exhibits.
