Summer Picnics Bring Food Stains to Clothing
One favorite summer activity is to head for a beach, park, or scenic spot with a picnic basket full of good things to eat. Unfortunately, eating outdoors can often result in clothing stains that are hard to remove. All stains should be treated as soon as possible. The longer the stain sets, the more difficult it is to remove. Stains from condiments that do not contain oils can be treated with a prewash stain remover and then laundered in the hottest water safe for the garment. Ice cream and egg stains are best treated with enzyme presoak products. It can take 30 minutes or longer to soak a stain, then follow by laundering garment as recommended by the care label. Some stains may require bleach, but read garment care labels to determine which type of bleach is recommended. Chocolate stains may need bleach if prewash stain removers and laundry are not sufficient. Fruit and juice stains may also require bleach for complete stain removal.
