Making Your Home Firesafe
Wildfires are not common in Kitsap County, but with long dry summer weather conditions Western Washington does experience periods of very high fire danger. If you live in the forest you need to plan and take preventative measures to protect your home and family. These measures include:
- Creating a fire-resistant defensible space around your home.
- Making sure the fire department can find and get to your home.
- Stop sparks before they become a fire.
- Keep fire safety equipment readily available inside and outside your home.
- Check for neighborhood hazards.
- Know and work with your neighbors to be firesafe.
