Nesting Boxes are Important & Fun
You might not realize that there are nearly
60 animal species in Kitsap County that need cavities for
nests and shelter. Dead standing trees or snags are typically
used by cavity nesting wildlife. In most rural residential
areas the dead standing trees or snags, have been cut down
for safety reasons thus eliminating critical habitat for cavity
nesters. Nesting boxes in the form of bird houses and bat
houses can be designed and placed to provide the necessary
habitat for song birds and other wildlife. If you would enjoy
seeing more wildlife consider using nesting boxes in your
back yard and throughout your neighborhood.
