WSU Kitsap Extension has put together an informational gardening series with BKAT. Each episode's DVD is available for check-out at the Extension Office. Currently there are four different topics to learn about:
- Basic Lawncare, Ground Covers & Maintenance of Lawns
- Water Gardening
- Crocosmia & Drought Tolerant Plants
- Septic System Maintenance & Landscaping
- Houseplants
This episode covers basic lawn care from tools, weeding, fertilizing, watering and basic maintenance. Also included are groundcover ideas. Groundcovers can be an alternative to lawns. Joseph Machcinski from Rogers Landscaping is featured along with TR Strong, WSU Master Gardener and lawn owner. Running Time: 30 minutes
"Water Gardening"
This episode featuers one of Ktisap County's foremost plantsperson, Jan Bahr who is also a Certified Professional Horticulturist. Covers above ground ponds and water features, in ground ponds, basic maintenance, plants for water gardens. Running Time: 45 minutes

"Crocosmia & Drought Tolerant Plants"
This episode covers crocosmia and drought tolerant plants. Crocosmia is a very tolerant, multi-purpose plant suitable for nearly every Kitsap garden condition. Also features a tour of Nils Sundquist's display gardens where he's combined a wide array and selection of plants including: bulbs, shrubs, grasses and trees. This episode features Nils Sundquist, local nurseryman and horticulturist. Running Time: 35 minutes

"Septic System Maintenance & Landscaping"
This short program (20 minutes) provides information on OSS (Onsite Sewage Systems). Several mound system landsaping options are shown. An OSS maintenance contractor also walks us through what we need to know to maintain and monitor our systems. This episode features Master Gardener Fay Linger, Jody Holdcroft (Kitsap Health District) and Lance Hale from Dave's Septic Services. Running Time: 20 minutes

Houseplants Par 1 and Part 2 features Valley Nursery's Sam Rader in the Greenhouse. Learn about a wide variety of housplants available for indoor gardening.
