Eight consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 pm starting February 19, 2008 and ending May 6th at Long Lake (Bob Oke) Community Center, Port Orchard.

South Kitsap County residents have the opportunity to take part in watershed stewardship academy, a 8-week educational class designed to increase their knowledge of watershed & forest ecology, wildlife & habitat enhancement, land use and low-impact development. The academy is targeting citizens living within the boundary of the Wilson Creek Watershed located just south of Port Orchard, but anyone interested in learn more about living, working and recreating in their watershed is welcome. Those wishing to continue the learning process for an additional 4 weeks can earn a certificate as a WSU Shoreline Stewardship Advisor. Shoreline Advisor will receive in-depth training in native plants, shoreline dynamics, septic systems and plant selection, propagation and survival. Once finished with training, Shoreline Stewardship Advisors are expected to do community service by education others on shoreline dynamics and measures to protect and enhance livability, water, wildlife and fish resources. |
