Why Volunteer for Washington State University Extension?

By volunteering, you receive:

Education - As a volunteer, you receive research based education in the field in which you volunteer. After completing the required basic training, you receive annual updates to keep up with the latest information.
Official status as a representative of Washington State University - Wearing the badge of an Extension volunteer, you represent Washington State University in the community and bring the resources of the University to your volunteer role.
Opportunities to make a difference - Your volunteer responsibility is to take the knowledge you have gained through training and your own personal skills to sharing through service to Kitsap communities increasing the quality of life for resident groups and individuals.
Experience - Through your volunteer work, you can gain valuable experience, applicable to future employment, volunteer work, personal fulfillment and the full heart which comes from sharing and make a difference to others.

What are the opportunities to volunteer?

There are many opportunities to volunteer in one or more of the following program areas.. Click on the opportunity that interests you to find out how to get involved and for more information.

Extension Advisory Council:
This group provides input and advocacy to WSU Extension locally and statewide. Members represent a wide variety of community population representative. For more information, contact the Director of Extension at (360) 337-7225.

Extension Office Volunteer:
Office volunteers fulfill a variety of office needs including filing, organizing and preparing materials for program training. For more information on office volunteering contact the Jan Koske, Kitsap County Volunteer Services Director, at (360) 337-4650.

How do I become a Volunteer?

To become an Extension volunteer:

Complete the volunteer application form (PDF file) provided, including all required information and mail to our office at WSU Kitsap Extension, 345 6th Street, Ste. 550, Bremerton, WA 98337-1874.
A Washington State Patrol check is required for all Extension volunteers
If you are interested in volunteering in one of the specific program areas, please check the program page on this website to determine additional qualifications for this program and any possible wait list requirements or, call or e-mail the program coordinator(s) listed.
If you are interested in general volunteer opportunities, please indicate specific skills. You will be contacted after your application is received and your Washington State Patrol check is completed.
